In 2019, Marvel announced they would do a reboot of the popular “Blade” character in the MCU starring Mahershala Ali. Over the years, the film was pushed back due to COVID and then the Hollywood strikes, and now the rumors indicate the film is shelved or canceled.
Originally, Kevin Feige said the film would release on November 3, 2023, with filming beginning in early October 2022 and wrapping in January 2o23. Eventually, the film was given a November 2025 release date, but that too has been removed.
Throughout the production of “Blade” a parade of people associated with the film dropped out, including Bassam Tariq, Yann Demange, Damián García, and several different writers.
Recently, there has been discussion and rumors indicating that the film has been shelved for now.
More evidence suggests “Blade” has been cancelled.
Grammy Award-winning artist Flying Lotus posted that he was writing music for the film and indicated the “Blade” film was done as it “fell thru.”
I guess we are so far from it even being a possibility now but. Yeah I was signed on to write music for the new BLADE movie before it fell thru.
Maybe it’ll come around again but I doubt it. Would have been fun tho💔

This is yet another source attached to the “Blade” film saying that it is at least paused, if not shelved.
It’s a bummer that we won’t see “Blade” anytime soon. I would have preferred to see more of the character with Wesley Snipes reprising the role as he did in the “Deadpool & Wolverine” film. “Blade,” if done correctly, could have been money in the bank for Marvel.

Previously, Disney CEO Bob Iger said that some Marvel films and shows were shelved to focus on quality over quantity.
“I’ve been working hard with the studio to reduce output and focus more on quality. That’s particularly true with Marvel.”
With each passing day, it seems less likely we will see the “Blade” film soon.
