Monster High Halloween Draculaura doll gets a Friday “final pre-order” date after backlash

Mattel’s $65 Halloween Edition Draculaura sold out fast, and resale listings popped up for double the price. The backlash from the Monster High community was severe, and now Mattel is opening a final pre-order on Friday, Oct. 16, for fans who missed out.

Monster High fans wanted fan-favorite ghoul Draculaura, and many of them didn’t get her.

The Draculaura Halloween Edition doll sold out on Mattel Creations shortly after it went on sale this week on Tuesday, and the first pre-order on Wednesday. Now collectors are frustrated, especially as resale listings pop up online with some resellers having dozens of dolls available.

The limit was two.

Mattel said demand was “higher than expected.” It’s opening one more pre-order on Friday, Oct. 16, at 9 a.m. PT.

These sold out within minutes, with many fans experiencing issues with the CAPTCHA or checkout. As the cart was struggling to check out, the item “sold out.” Yet scalpers seemingly had no issue securing large quantities of the dolls.

Here’s what Mattel said about the added pre-order opportunity

There’s been a lot of eek-citement for the Halloween Draculaura Skullector doll, and demand is higher than expected! We’re opening a final pre-order that goes live at 9 AM PT on Friday, 10/16. This final run is slated for a fall 2027 delivery and includes as many dolls as we can produce and ship in time for next Halloween. Luckily, her scary-chic style is worth the wait!

Why are Monster High fans upset about the Halloween Draculaura doll?

Many collectors couldn’t buy one before it sold out. Fans have taken to social media to complain about missing the drop, while resellers appear to have scooped up more than their share.

Mattel set a limit of two dolls per customer. Even so, at least one eBay seller listed the doll as a presale and showed 80 sold at $144.99 each.

The seller from the image above sold 52 (as of Wednesday).

Another presale listing sold for $124.95 on Oct. 13, before the doll was even open to the general public.

How was the Halloween Draculaura doll released?

In two steps. Members of Mattel’s Fang Club got early access starting Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 9 a.m. PT, according to the Mattel Creations product page.

The general public got its turn on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 9 a.m. PT, while supplies lasted. Fang Club is a paid membership that costs $9.99 a year.

The doll is a Mattel Creations exclusive and costs $65.

When is the final Draculaura pre-order?

Friday, Oct. 16, at 9 a.m. PT, or noon ET. Mattel says this “final run“ will include as many dolls as it can make and ship in time for next Halloween.

The catch is the wait. Mattel says this batch is slated for fall 2027, and the product page lists a ship date of on or before July 9, 2027.

The two-per-customer limit still applies, and Mattel says limits can change at its discretion.

What does the Halloween Draculaura doll look like?

Very gothic, and very pink. Draculaura wears a Victorian-style outfit with a laced bodice, a batwing overskirt, and a “countess collar,” according to Mattel.

She also has a batwing headpiece with a sheer veil, tall boots with haunted-house heels, and a pink jack-o’-lantern purse.

This doll reminds me of a butterfly.

Draculaura is incredibly popular, and her releases tend to go for a lot of money. This whole fiasco reminds me of how hard it was to secure the Vampire Heart release, but worse. MH fans know what I’m referring to.

The doll stands 11.75 inches tall and has 11 points of articulation. She comes in a window box with a stand and a certificate of authenticity.

Is the Halloween Draculaura a Skullector doll?

Yes. Mattel calls her the “Halloween Draculaura Skullector doll.” Skullector is Monster High’s line of collector dolls made for adult fans.

That line has included team-ups with Beetlejuice, Coraline, and Universal Monsters. Many Skullector dolls sell out fast and resell for much more, which is why fans pay close attention to each drop.

Should you buy the Draculaura doll from a reseller?

I wouldn’t.

They will continue to pull all the inventory for profit.

Many of the resale listings are presales, which means the seller doesn’t have the doll yet. If you do buy secondhand, use a site with buyer protection, and check the seller’s reviews first.

Who is Draculaura?

She’s one of the original Monster High ghouls. Draculaura is the daughter of Dracula, a pink-loving vampire who first appeared when Mattel launched Monster High in 2010.

She’s been part of every version of the brand since, from the original dolls to the newer animated series. That makes a special Halloween version of her a must-have for many collectors.

If you’re trying for the final pre-order, sign in to your Mattel Creations account early and have your payment info ready before 9 a.m. PT.

Let’s hope Mattel blocks the bots this time.
