Disney Changing Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run To Add The Mandalorian and Grogu

Din Djarin, better known as the Mandalorian, is coming soon to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort. Even better? Grogu, everyone’s favorite little companion, is coming along too as part of an upcoming update to Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run.

At the recent “The Future of World-Building at Disney” panel held during SXSW, creator of The Mandalorian and Disney Legend Jon Favreau joined Disney Imagineers Leslie Evans and Asa Kalama to unveil exciting details about the upcoming adventure in Batuu.

“One of the cool things about Disney is how we can tell our stories in so many different formats,” Favreau shared. “We’re already taking Mando and Grogu from the TV screen to the movie screen, and at the same time, [The Mandalorian executive producer] Dave [Filoni] and I are working with Asa to bring this story to the Disney parks, too.”

Uniquely Disney, this innovative collaboration brings Star Wars fans even deeper into the galaxy far, far away. Mark your calendars—the new adventure at Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run and the highly anticipated movie featuring The Mandalorian and Grogu both debut simultaneously on May 22, 2026.

“Opening an attraction and such a massive movie on the same day wouldn’t be possible without the relationships we have inside Disney,” explained Imagineer Asa Kalama. “Jon and Dave have shared their story with us, and now we’ve all worked together to create a brand-new mission for Smugglers Run that ties directly into this narrative.”

Imagineers have closely collaborated with The Mandalorian team, even filming scenes on the movie’s set for integration into the attraction. Guests will soon find themselves visiting iconic Star Wars locations while aboard the Millennium Falcon, including the breathtaking Cloud City.

They are adding the Mandalorian and Grogu to scenes from the classic trilogy?

“This isn’t going to retell what happens in the movie—it’s more like participating in something happening just off-camera from what you see in the film,” Favreau clarified.

The storytelling magic doesn’t stop there. Disneyland guests might already recognize the playful BDX droids, which are now set to explore other Disney locations worldwide, including Walt Disney World, Tokyo Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris. Plus, these lovable droids will make their big-screen debut in the upcoming The Mandalorian and Grogu movie!

As these little droids transition from parks to films and back again, they’ll inevitably require a tune-up. Fortunately, the perfect creature for the job is already on hand. Say hello to Otto, the delightful Anzellan droid mechanic previously seen in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and the latest season of The Mandalorian. Just remember, try not to get on Otto’s cranky side!

May the Force be with you—we’ll see you aboard the Millennium Falcon on May 22, 2026!
