Mattel Darkness Descends Ursula Doll Drops On September 8

Mattel has revealed that the second doll in the Darkness Descends collection will be Ursula from The Little Mermaid. The doll will be released on September 8 at 9 AM PST / 12 Noon EST.

Ursula will cost $150, but she has a fun feature that makes her glow!

This doll is incredibly cool! Her box has five LED lights to give her a neat black light neon glow effect.

The black light also reveals a Flotsam and Jetsam invisible-ink tattoo.

Ursula is 13.5 inches tall (when on her doll stand), and she has seven points of articulation in her upper body. Her lower body has size wires in her 9.5-inch tentacles.

Here is the doll write-up:

“Beloved villain Ursula made a huge splash in Disney’s 1989 animated hit The Little Mermaid. Now, fans can dive into more adventure with our stylish sea witch. We’ve captured her oversized personality in a special collector doll that’s one of the largest on the market, scale-wise. She conjures major drama with her shiny black bustier, organza collar, tulle skirt, and glowing neon details. With so much magic at her fingertips, Ursula is poised to steal Ariel’s voice — and she’ll leave you speechless too.”

The first doll in the collection was Maleficent, which is now on sale.

Normally, I don’t get too excited for these dolls, but Ursula is fantastic. The glowing effect really sells this piece. Still $150 is a bit expensive.

Purchase limits are usually one or two dollars per customer. Mattel hasn’t announced what the limit will be for Ursula yet.
