Marvel’s Werewolf By Night Halloween Special Begins Filming

According to a recent report the production on Marvel’s upcoming Disney Plus Halloween Special following the character Werewolf By Night is begun active development in Atlanta, Georgia.

According to the production office of the stage of Georgia the title called “Buzzcut” has begun early principle photography. It was stated via Murphy’s Multiverse that “Buzzcut” was the working title for the upcoming Halloween Special. Somewhat similar to when Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi went under the name “Blue Harvest” during their filming at the Californian Redwoods National Park.

Though the special will prominently feature Werewolf By Night as a main character it appears that the special will have a unique title instead of having a character name as its title.

Werewolf By Night is a horror themed werewolf character that debut in Marvel Spotlight Issue #2 in 1972 and was created by Roy Thomas, Jeanie Thomas, Gerry Conway and Mike Ploog.

The character was originally named Jack Russell. He is the descendant of a werewolf who sought revenge on Dracula for killing his wife. Now Jack must endure the family curse. Actor Ethan Hawke is believed to be playing the character in the new Moon Knight series on Disney Plus.

However the version of the character that will appear in the new special seems to be based on the most recent incarnation named Jake Gomez. At the age of 13 he began turning into a werewolf due to being a descendant of Hopi Native Americans who were cursed with lycanthropy. Actor Gale García Bernal is believed to be playing the role.

Not much is known about the upcoming project other than it will focus around a more spooky tone for the holiday. With both this and SONY’s new Morbius film is looks like Marvel is looking to steal Universal’s thunder with all these monster characters.
