Marvel vs. Capcom Collection Is Finally Coming To Xbox After Fan Demand

This past June, it was revealed that the popular Marvel vs. Capcom series would be making its return to consoles with the new Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics. The collection contains seven classic arcade games developed by Capcom, featuring Marvel characters crossing over with theirs in the ultimate showdown.

The collection was first announced via a Nintendo Direct stream, immediately confirming that it would be released on the Nintendo Switch. Afterward, it was revealed that PlayStation 4 and Steam would also receive the collection, but not Xbox.

This caused some controversy online with multiple fans on Twitter/X voicing their concern. Similar collections, such as the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection and the Capcom Fighting Collection, were released on the same system. 

But now, after many requests from fans, Capcom has responded and will release the collection on Xbox One (it is also playable on Series X via backward compatibility). The only downside is that it will release sometime in 2025,be released not in 2024 like on other platforms.

Alongside the Marvel vs. Capcom collection, they also confirmed that the recently announced Capcom Fighting Collection 2 will be releasing on Xbox in 2025 as well.

Capcom mentioned in the announcement that they had technical discussions with Microsoft, implying that the main issue keeping these games off of Xbox was due to a technical reason. This lines up with reports that Capcom is using specific emulation software that isn’t compatible with some machines. Now they have apparently cleared this hurtle and fans on all major platforms will have the opportunity to play these games again.
