Marvel Snap And Other Games Got Snapped In The US TikTok Ban

When TikTok went dark due to the Supreme Court ruling, a bunch of games surprisingly also went dark due to the ban due to association with ByteDance. Even the gaming companies were caught off-guard.

One of the bigger games impacted was Marvel Snap. It suddenly went dark and was removed from the major app stores when TikTok was. The reason is because the publisher, Nuverse, is a subsidiary of ByteDance, so anything associated is being treated the same as TikTok.

Second Dinner Studios took to X to let fans know they were unaware this would happen.

This outage is a surprise to us and wasn’t planned. MARVEL SNAP isn’t going anywhere.

We’re actively working on getting the game up as soon as possible and will update you once we have more to share.

It isn’t just Marvel Snap that got shut down.

Polygon lists some other games that were also shut down because of ties to ByteDance, including,

Nuverse games:

  • Land of Empires: Immortal
  • Land of Empires: Dice Hero
  • Mission EVO

Moonton games:

  • Mobile Legends: Bang Bang
  • Mobile Legends: Adventure
  • Watcher of Realms
  • One Punch Man: The Strongest.

President Trump has stated that he will try to work with ByteDance to get TikTok, and now these games, turned back on after he is sworn in.

People were already upset when TikTok went dark. My kids both came down to tell me it was gone. They didn’t realize it would be so early on the East coast.

It’s kind of eye-opening how much the video app wove into people’s lives.
