Universal Orlando CityWalk area suggests some excellent places to dine. Several of them function as third party restaurants. In other words, these places lack being owned/controlled by Universal Orlando. These places function as leased spaces within CityWalk. In most cases, you can find these same restaurants elsewhere. However, many of these “chain” restaurants provide solid options and value to Universal Orlando guests. For example, Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville obliges guests to visit.
The theming here fits expectations with a name like Margaritaville. The Jimmy Buffet style music permeates the interior dining area. The themed indoor volcano erupts on a regular basis. The alcoholic beverages options offer variety. However, what if you are trying to eat “healthy” while at Universal Orlando Resort?
Margaritaville provides a solid solution to that issue. At about 950 calories for your meal, the Grilled Chicken Breast delivers a gluten free and lower fat/calorie count than most theme park full-service options. Though I would have expected a musically themed name to be the title of this dish, the quality surpasses normal hopes.
The menu description reads about these chicken breasts: “Marinated and seasoned with our special blend of spices and topped with mango salsa.” Island rice and fire-roasted corn balance out this menu item. Currently, the price for this item is $19.95. That price point rates a bit high for grilled chicken. Nevertheless, guests should remember annual pass food discounts of up to 15% that help with this price point.

So how does it taste? This chicken dish reminds me of similar style menu items at places like Chili’s and Applebee’s. Despite that, the worth of this chicken dish outdoes those previous mentioned places. The chicken texture and quality earn the themed restaurant price. The grill marks on the chicken indicates at least an attempt for proper preparation of grilled chicken. The mango salsa topping adds without overpowered the chicken. The rice and corn function as above average sides. The gluten free factor of this grilled chicken earns it high points also.

Since most people visiting here are on vacation, the appeal of other menu items for similar or lower cost causes this chicken to be overlooked. If a healthier item aids in your dietary quests, then this chicken should be considered. Yes, the price point raises concerns. Still, based on your personal dietary choices, this chicken might fulfill a solid need. Also, Margaritaville opens at 11am each day. Therefore, you could have this as a lunch time break from the theme parks. Enjoy your time at Universal Orlando. Dine wisely!
