Man Compares His Disney Vacation Cost in 2011 With 2026 and it’s More Than Doubled In Cost

Is Disney getting too expensive? For most people, the answer is “yes” as the company far outpaces the inflation rate and is adding upcharges like Lighting Lane access.

One man just compared his trip from 2011 to a trip today, and it is more than double the cost for the same package.

How much of a difference was it?

His trip for two adults in summer 2011, with a stay at the value All-Star Resort, five-day hopper passes, a dining plan, and a car rental cost under $2k.

Now that same trip will cost over $4,200, and that doesn’t include Lighting Lane daily add-ons.

With the standard inflation rates, this trip should only cost about $2,700 now, but instead costs an additional $1,500 more.

Here is the video,

Disney’s inflation rate is significantly higher than the actual U.S. inflation rate. According to Fortune, Disney costs have hit up to 9X the regular rate of inflation.

They are pricing out most people from their theme parks.

Back in 2011, there were a lot of perks that no longer exist today, including

Magical Express – Complimentary transportation from the Orlando International Airport (MCO) to your Walt Disney World resort hotel.
FastPass+ – Three complimentary quick attraction access for those with tickets to a Walt Disney World theme park.
Extra Magic HOURS – Complimentary early hour of park access for guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel.
Off Season – Certain times of the year, tickets were cheaper if you went “off season,” and now the price of admission varies by dates and algorithms designed to increase profit.

The “Disney Difference” was more bang for your buck with extras that rewarded guests for choosing to stay on property or visit their theme park. Now all of that is gone and replaced by upcharges and price hikes.

Disney vacations are still doable if you wait for deals and save money for months or years to go, but many are going to other locations or visiting Disney Parks overseas for the same cost or less.

This example just proves how much money Disney is trying to demand for a few days on the property.

As long as people continue paying it nothing will change.
