Man Arrested For Allegedly Impersonating DEA Agent And Bringing BB gun To Disney Springs

2020 just keeps getting weirder. Deputies have arrested a man who allegedly impersonated a DEA officer and tried to bring a BB gun into Disney Springs.

Nathaniel Godfrey Smith, 18, is being charged with falsely impersonating an officer, carrying a concealed weapon and unlawfully displaying a badge.

Here’s what reports say happened:

On Friday, November 13, 2020, Smith attempted to enter the Disney Springs property. Upon entering the security area he triggered the metal detectors. At that point security personnel called for a deputy as they needed Smith checked for a concealed weapon. Upon questioning Smith showed a badge and claimed he was a DEA agent from Georgia. He also indicated that he didn’t bring his issued identification card.

The deputies asked Smith for the name and number of his supervisor for verification, but he claimed he didn’t have that information. Deputies searched for information and found gold badges matching Smith’s on Amazon.

It turned out the gun was a BB gun replica of a Glock 19 and Smith admitted he was not a DEA agent as he allegedly indicated. He was taken into custody.
