Mahershala Ali’s Blade Reboot Removed From Marvel’s Release Slate

Marvel continues to have production troubles regarding some of its upcoming projects. The reboot of the vampire killer Blade, starring Mahershala Ali, has been removed from its November 7th, 2025, release date. No reasons have been given as to why the delay was made, and no new date has been assigned. However, the dates of February 18th, May 5th, and November 10th of 2028 have been added, indicating that one of those dates may be the new date.

One reason for the delay could be Ali’s commitment to other projects. The actor is currently involved with Jurassic World Rebirth aka “Jurassic Park 7,” currently set to release on July 2nd, 2025. This delay could give Marvel enough time to finally nail down the script and get the ball rolling.

The film’s production troubles date back to 2022, as it has been a revolving door of creatives. The first director, Bassam Tariq, left in September 2022, with Yaan Demanage leaving in June of this year. Aside from the directors, the story has also been a subject of scrutiny, as one draft reportedly made the project a female-focused film with Blade serving as a secondary character.

One only other thing that might be affecting this project was the return of Wesley Snipes as Blade for Deadpool & Wolverine this past summer. Initially playing the character from 1998 – 2004, many still see Snipes’ take on the character as irreplaceable. The character even said, “There’s only ever been one Blade. Only ever gonna be one Blade.“.

While that line could be taken as a simple joke, Ryan Reynolds himself has been advocating for a fourth Wesley Snipes Blade movie made in a similar vein to 2017’s Logan. With Deadpool & Wolverine’s box office numbers, it might give Marvel second thoughts on their current plans.

What do you think? When will the Blade reboot be released?

Will it ever be released?

Will Snipes get his fourth Blade movie instead? Let us know your thoughts.
