Loungefly Bags Holiday Shopping Guide – From Affordable to ?!?!

Well, we’ve entered the Christmas season. All the stores are packed with holiday decor. Friends and family eagerly await to see how much you’ll spend on them this year. If you’ve got a Disney fan in your circle, they’ve probably been eyeing a Loungefly bag or two. Today, we will look at this season’s hottest bags and ways to pick up some rarer ones that have been discontinued.

While I may not be the most well-versed Disney Fashion writer here, I have Loungefly experience. As the father of a Disney-obsessed kid who recently discovered the world of mini backpacks, I spent lots of time on Main Street at the Magic Kingdom as my child picked out her “perfect” fashion accessory. After much deliberation and multiple refusals for a loan, she settled on the Walt Disney World Loungefly Mini Backpack.

I’ll be honest; it’s a great-looking bag for $78. It features Cinderella’s castle and beautiful royal blue trim. Surprisingly, it doesn’t light up even though it features fireworks graphics on the front and back.

Those who want more gimmicks in their Loungefly bags will need to pay an extra $10 and get the Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse ”Partners” Light-Up Loungefly Mini Backpack. Mickey and Walt’s silhouette are joined by several glow-in-the-dark fireworks and four LED lights.

Possibly the best Loungefly bag I’ve ever seen is the Disney100 Muppets Electric Mayhem backpack. Kermit and Piggy usually get the most exposure when it comes to fashion items, but Dr. Teeth’s band is really where it’s at. Can you picture that?

Although we may be past Halloween, The Haunted Mansion is perfect for any time of the year. So, it’s good that there’s a Madame Leota Mini Backpack for sale right now. The best part is that it’s also on sale for $61.60!

If you want a Loungefly bag only to use during Christmas, check out the Disney Classics Christmas Glow-in-the-Dark Mini Backpack. It does what it says on the tin!

I get it if you’re not super psyched about wearing something with Disney characters on it. That’s why you can always check out Entertainment Earth’s Loungefly section for more variety.

My favorite non-Disney bags feature Gremlins, the Tampa Bay Bucs (of course), and Fievel from Don Bluth’s masterpiece An American Tail.

Maybe you’re looking for something rarer? Is it something that isn’t available in stores now? Then, you’ll need to slog through the domain of the dreaded resellers.

On average, Loungefly bags usually go for $100 and below. However, certain themed pieces of luggage have been fetching unbelievably high prices on the secondary market.

While browsing eBay, we noticed several bags listed for thousands of dollars. Is there really a market that is willing to pay $3,600 for a tiny backpack?

No. Sure, some Lougefly bags are going for several hundred dollars. Yet, I cannot find an instance where one sold for a thousand, let alone multiple thousands of dollars.

Over the past three months, we found only two bags on eBay that came close to the thousand-dollar mark. The first is the Toy Story Wheezy backpack. Wheezy sold for $925 in early September. I’ll admit, I’d consider buying it because the character has an adorable design that works in backpack form.

The original Princess Book handbag was the next high-priced bag that successfully sold. Initially listed for $900, but the best offer was accepted. Still, I doubt the seller paid less than $750 for it.

Lougefly’s Princess Books Handbag was initially released in 2020 for $100. Featuring the titles of some of Disney’s most famous princess films, it’s no wonder it sold so well. The added detail of a library checkout slip is a nice touch.

After that, prices continued to dip into the $700 and $600 ranges. Sure, they’re selling, but nothing is going for close to what the highest-priced Loungefly bag is currently listed. Heck, even the Orange Bird mini backpack from $2018 only fetched $580!

So, don’t get hustled by resellers. There’s undoubtedly a market for rarer Loungefly items, but the demand isn’t sending the prices into the stratosphere.

On Facebook Marketplace, the prices are a bit different! In the recent past, the highest-priced Disney bag to sell in Florida was a $300 Minnie Mouse Halloween sequin mini backpack (ears included).

For my fellow Jews out there, I wanted to point out that Loungefly has us covered for Hanukkah. While the holiday usually gets regulated to a glorified endcap at the major retail chains, the fashion company did a stunning job of incorporating the Festival of Lights into a mini backpack featuring Mickey and Minnie. Yes, the menorah does light up!

The back of the bag has a cute scene of the two mice playing with a dreidel.
