The upcoming The Mandalorian spinoff series, Ahsoka, has just announced that actress Natasha Liu Bordizzo will be portraying the female Mandalorian weapons expert Sabine Wren.
Wren was introduced in the Star Wars Rebels television series which lasted from 2014 – 2018. Set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, the series followed a group of young outcasts in the early days of the Galactic Rebellion.
The Australian born actress began her career in the 2016 Netflix film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny, sequel to the hit martial arts film from 2000. She also appeared in films like 2017’s The Greatest Showman and 2021’s Wish Dragon, as well as multiple television series like The Society and The Most Dangerous Game.
The upcoming Ahsoka series is set to begin filming in early 2022 and will follow Rosario Dawson as the titular Ahsoka Tano, former member of the Jedi Order and apprentice to Anakin Skywalker, set after the events of Return of the Jedi.
Some believe that with the addition of Sabine Wren this will follow the cliffhanger ending to Star Wars Rebels where Sabine and Ahsoka set out to find their friend, Ezra Bridger, who went missing. It is currently unknown who will play Ezra.
Are you looking forward to the Ahsoka mini-series?
