Disney, in its quest for more money, launched a Lighting Lane Premier Pass last year with ridiculous pricing that can go up to $450+ tax per person! Originally, only guests at deluxe resorts and villas could add on the pass, but starting tomorrow, anyone can.
Starting tomorrow eligible guests can buy Lightning Lane Premier Passes
The Lighting Lane Premier Pass allows guests to access every Lighting Lane attraction once per day without making reservations.
Guests must have valid theme park tickets for the days they can purchase this add-on.
Sales begin at 7AM each day.
How far out can I purchase a Lighting Lane Premier Pass?
For those who have reservations at Walt Disney World Resort hotels, the Swan and Dolphin Hotels, the Swan Reserve, or Shades of Green, tickets can be purchased seven days before their first night.
Guests not staying at a Walt Disney World resort can purchase their Lighting Lane Premier Pass up to three days before their first day.
Annual Passholders and those with date-based tickets can purchase three days ahead as well. They have to make sure the full-price guests get first dibs over the annual pass holders.
How much is the Lightning Lane Premier Pass?
At last report it is very expensive and depends on the park you choose.
This is the cost PER PERSON / PER DAY, in addition to the actual ticket price.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom: $119-$199 plus tax
EPCOT: $149-$249 plus tax
Disney’s Hollywood Studios: $249-$349 plus tax
Magic Kingdom: $329-$449 plus tax
What once was a free FastPass+ option for guests has now because a financial whirlwind for Disney. It’s getting to a point where the lines for people with Lighting Lane access are sometimes longer than the stand-by lines. It can now take about as much time as the stand-by lines used to take, while the stand-by lines are longer in an attempt to force people to pay the upcharge. But the gains aren’t there for the guests, only Disney.
