Leslye Headland Wants To Make A Live-Action KOTOR Project

The current state of Star Wars television is divisive, to say the least. While shows like The Mandalorian and Andor made fans want to revisit a galaxy far, far away, other shows like The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi made them remember why there hasn’t been a Star Wars movie in a while.

The latest series from Lucasfilm, The Acolyte, recently debuted with the first two episodes releasing on Disney+. However, audiences tore the show apart, and it currently has a 29% audience score, far lower than that of The Last Jedi, which has 41%.

The series has been seen as suspect ever since it was announced, from the way it was announced to the choice of showrunner to the decision to have it set during the unpopular High Republic era to some of the actors making derogatory statements without consequence. So far, the show has done little to impress, and it is unknown if that feeling will change as the series continues.

After giving us the first Live-Action depiction of High Republic content on screen, showrunner Lesley Headland seemingly has her eyes set on bringing another Star Wars era to the screen. But this one is an era many fans are familiar with.

In a recent interview with Omelete, Headland stated that she really wants to visit the Old Republic era as part of a future project. She said:

I’ve always wanted to explore a live-action version of the Knights of the Old Republic game and Kreia’s character. It would be a really interesting story to bring to life.

It’s ironic how a showrunner making content based on the High Republic (an era originally established to replace the old expanded universe content) wants to re-canonize that era. Whether she will be able to do so remains to be seen.

What do you think? Should Headland be allowed to do a story set during the Old Republic? Or should The Acolyte be the last Star Wars project she touches? Let us know your thoughts.
