Legend of Zelda Excitement Increases With Epic Universe’s Stained Glass Windows

Epic Universe opened up for media previews, and as videos and photos featuring the new park appear, people are starting to wonder what could be next. One of the big theories has to do with the Legend of Zelda, as characters from the game appear with Mario and Donkey Kong on stained glass windows in the Celestial Park area. Currently, Mario Bros. and Donkey Kong are featured in the Super Nintendo World area.

Since Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf are featured in windows at Epic Universe, speculation has started about an expansion coming to the new park.

Legend of Zelda banners are also located in the Nintendo Super Star store as well. The only other banners are based on Mario and friends and Donkey Kong.

Can there be another expansion?

Yes. There is an expansion pad behind the current area with the setup for an opening inside the Donkey Kong section. Plus, Karen Irwin, President of Universal Orlando Resort, has said they are already planning for what’s next.

“There are already so many things in the works now. We have a slate of new attractions that are in development for every one of our parks. We’re already planning for the next thing at Epic [Universe].” – Karen Irwin.

Previously, it has been rumored to be possibly Legend of Zelda or Pokémon. Given the live-action Legend of Zelda film coming out on March 26, 2027, and now the windows, it seems likely.

Wasn’t Legend of Zelda rumored for the Lost Continent at Islands of Adventure?

Yes. That is a long-standing rumor. Pokémon has also been tossed around as both a possibility for the Lost Continent area or Epic Universe. Either IP would be huge. Both Pokémon along with Mario, have arguably more brand recognition than Mickey Mouse, especially Pokémon.

Zelda at the Lost Continent was rumored to be a boat-type attraction with Mythos restaurant also rethemed to the Deku Tree.

Pokémon has also been rumored to be a replacement for the Springfield area of Universal Studios as The Simpsons license with Disney is set to expire in 2028. Disney likely won’t renew.

Luigi’s Mansion was also a rumored addition for the expansion area. While I love the idea, with Frankenstein Castle in the Dark Universe, it’s probably unlikely.

The windows do lead people to believe Zelda is coming to Epic Universe,

Legend of Zelda has been a long-rumored addition to Universal Orlando. It, like Pokémon, has become more of a question about where it would go, not if it will arrive. Having the character in the stained glass windows along with only other characters in the Super Nintendo World area does seem like an announcement of their arrival to Epic Universe.
