Labubu Float Is Coming To the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Labubu is taking the world by storm. The fugly little guys and gals have become a pop culture phenomenon, leading to animation deals and theme parks. Now they are coming to the 99th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade!

The float is called “Friends-giving in POP CITY”.  POP MART, the company behind the trending dolls, created the float featuring POP MART characters like SkullPanda and Molly. Two furry, inflatable Labubu and Mokoko figures will also be featured.

Here is a look from Today,

Brendan Kennedy, Macy’s director of creative production, told Today that the float’s two furry balloons were a first for the parade.

“We have the icon, the moment, we have Labubu. First time ever in parade history, we have these two, giant furry inflatables, Labubu and Mokoko. And they are mischievously wrapping the buildings for a friendsgiving party with their friends, Skullpanda and Dimoo. We have Molly in the back and Duckoo and, of course, Peach Riot.”

Kennedy also praised the parade engineers on their packing skills, allowing the large floats access to the city.

“Our engineers are, honestly, insane that they can take this giant monstrosity and then pack it down to about the size of a school bus and then drive it through the Lincoln Tunnel on a huge convoy and get it ready for parade day, for the millions on the street and millions at home,” Kennedy said.

You can see the Labubu float and more starting at 8:30 AM on Thanksgiving, November 27, 2024 at NBC.
