“KPop Demon Hunters” is expected to slay the box office this weekend with a limited two-day release, with showings in North America, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand.
Netflix and Sony’s hit show “KPop Demon Hunters” is set to hit theaters for a special “sing-along” release on August 23 and 24th. The popular offering quickly sold out in many locations, and now it appears that the film could win the box office this weekend.
How much will “KPop Demon Hunters” make in theaters?
According to estimates, “KPop Demon Hunters” could bring in as much as $15 million for those two limited days. This would potentially put it over “Weapons” for the weekend. The popular horror film is expected to bring in $14 million, pushing it over $100 million domestically.
However, Netflix will not publicly report on box office totals.
So far, 1,100 of the 1,700 locations have sold out for the release in the United States and Canada. Showings are currently at Regal Cinemas, Cinemark Theaters, and Alamo Drafthouse.

These parties will be available in Austin, San Antonio, Los Angeles, New York, Bay Area, Raleigh, Denver, Chicago, Boston, Naples, Dallas, Twin Cities, and Omaha.
Some Cinemark theaters have also increased the number of showings for the two days.

With more showings, the totals could go “up, up, up”.
This comes after “KPop Demon Hunters” has remained at the top of Netflix for weeks! Fans want to participate in a group viewing at the theater, singing along with others.
The film finally gets a limited theatrical release, and it sells out almost immediately.
The takeaway for Hollywood should be that customers want original IP!
Will the film be released for more dates?
So far no. But as theaters add more showings during those dates, it means more chances for people to see it.
