Dress like the chain’s mascot on Saturday, Oct. 24, for a free taco and a drink. Plus, Jeni’s holiday ice cream, a $1.99 Trader Joe’s cookie and a Costco butter switch.
Here’s a Halloween costume idea that pays you back.
Jack in the Box will give a free Monster Taco and a small drink to anyone who comes in dressed as Jack on Saturday, Oct. 24, Money Saving Mom and DealsFinders reported. No purchase is needed.
Here’s how it works, plus six more food deals and finds from this week.
How do you get a free Monster Taco at Jack in the Box?
Show up dressed as Jack, the chain’s mascot, on Oct. 24. DealsFinders called it Dress Like Jack Day and said to ask the restaurant team about the offer.
Jack is known for his big round white head, pointy yellow hat and business suit. So a suit, a tie and a little creativity should get you most of the way there.
Participation and availability may vary, DealsFinders noted, so check with your local restaurant before you go.
What is the Jersey Mike’s Mini Bundle?
A $7.99 lunch deal. For a limited time, participating Jersey Mike’s locations are selling any cold Mini sub with a bag of chips for that price, Brand Eating reported.
To get the most for your money, pick a pricier sub.
Brand Eating found the California Club was the priciest cold Mini near it in Los Angeles, at $9.10 on its own. Chips were $2.55 there, so the bundle saved more than $3.
What are Jeni’s holiday ice cream flavors?
Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams has six flavors in its Holiday Collection, Sporked reported. Five are returning favorites, and one is new.
-
Sticky Toffee Pudding, the new one, with vanilla and date custard, brown sugar cake and toffee sauce.
-
Boozy Eggnog, made with nutmeg and Uncle Nearest whiskey.
-
Black Tie Tiramisu, with mocha and mascarpone ice creams and ladyfinger cookies.
-
White Chocolate Peppermint, with white chocolate sprinkles and a pop of sea salt.
-
Pistachio Macaron, made with pistachio butter, honey and almond.
-
Cranberry Panettone with Chocolate Sprinkles, with cranberry orange jam.
The collection arrived online and in Jeni’s scoop shops on Oct. 20, according to Sporked.
Why are people talking about Trader Joe’s single cookie?
Because it’s just one cookie. Trader Joe’s new A Singular Chocolate Chip Cookie is a thick, individually wrapped cookie that weighs 100 grams, Sporked reported.
It has milk chocolate and semisweet chips. Trader Joe’s said it wants to “offer more individual treats in our bakery section.”
The price is $1.99, and that’s where shoppers split. Some on Reddit called it too much for a prepackaged cookie, while people who tried it raved about how soft it was.
What changed with Costco’s Kirkland butter?
Where it comes from. Costco’s Kirkland Signature grass-fed butter used to be made only in New Zealand, but Irish dairy co-op Tirlan now makes it too, The Takeout reported.
Costco’s website now lists the butter as coming from New Zealand or Ireland. Some shoppers on Reddit said the new version is softer, while others couldn’t agree on whether it tastes any different.
The biggest complaint is the wrapper. Shoppers miss the tablespoon markings that used to be printed on it, according to The Takeout.
What are the new Chips Ahoy Minis?
Two drizzled flavors. Chips Ahoy Minis Caramel Drizzled and Fudge Drizzled top the brand’s tiny chocolate chip cookies with caramel or fudge, Sporked reported.
They come in 6-ounce pouches and 2.5-ounce tear bags at select retailers and convenience stores. Mondelez, which makes Chips Ahoy, hasn’t said exactly which ones.
Where is Taco Bell opening new Live Mas Cafes?
In Indiana and on the Las Vegas Strip, Nation’s Restaurant News reported. Live Mas Cafe is Taco Bell’s drink-focused spinoff, with more than 20 specialty beverages.
The first of three Indiana cafes opens Oct. 22 in West Lafayette, with Greenfield and Muncie to follow by the end of 2026. The Las Vegas flagship, coming later this year, will sit inside a shipping container next to the Taco Bell Cantina.
There are 39 locations, and Taco Bell’s goal is to eventually put a cafe inside every U.S. Taco Bell. “Our fans have always loved our beverages,” said Liz Matthews, Taco Bell’s global chief food innovation officer.
So if you’ve got a suit in the closet, Saturday might be the day to wear it. Just don’t forget the yellow hat.
