The stunts got very real today at the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. During the show, when the boulder is released to chase the Indiana Jones stunt actor, it fell off the ramp and headed into the crowd.
When it wasn’t stopping a Cast Member tried to use his body to block it from hitting the audience, and the force threw him backward. He seemed to have hit his head.
He did stop the boulder from hitting guests. Honestly, it did not look like it was moving all that fast, but it was enough force to push him backwards.
Immediately after he fell, other stunt team Cast Members ran to his aid.
The video was posted on Reddit,

It does seem that the heroic Cast Member was okay. Someone who was at the show said,
“He may have saved many people in the first row.
He did have blood coming from his head after the fall. It was not a lot, but they quickly put towels on it. He came back at the end of the show and was wearing a hat. He got a large round of applause.
I was there today for the 4:30 show but I was not recording.
They announced that the next shows would be “modified” because they had to investigate the incident with the ball.” – DDD_db
I’m glad to hear he returned to the show. I hope his injury was not too severe.
The show has been around for decades, so set malfunctions are bound to happen.
Another commentor said the show was stopped on 12/28 because the pillar holding the idol didn’t retract fully, which could have caused the boulder to fall off the slope.
Hopefully, it’s something they can get fixed because it’s a fun show. If you haven’t taken the time to see it, you should. Knowing Disney, it will probably get shut down after the new Indiana Jones overlay of Dinosaur opens, so they can put Zootopia or some other IP attraction there.
