How To Train Your Dragon Live Action Trailer Features Hiccup and Toothless Meeting

The first trailer for the Universal Pictures “How To Train Your Dragon” live-action film was released today even though the film will not release for another several months on June 13, 2025.

This new film will be a “shot-for-shot” remake of the original film from 15 years earlier and will even bring Gerard Butler back as the Stoick.  Dean DeBlois will be the writer and director on the film. He was a co-director of the original along with Chris Sanders.

Mason Thames will play Hiccup, and Nico Parker will play Astrid. Other actors include Nick Frost, Julian Dennison, Gabriel Howell, Bronwyn James, Harry Trevaldwyn, Ruth Codd, Peter Serafinowicz, and Murray McArthur.

As of this article, the trailer has had 1.98 million views (in 6 hours).

The comments are generally positive with many hoping that Toothless has the range of facial expressions that he does in the film.

The How To Train Your Dragon Live Action write- up reads,
