Pixar and Disney released the teaser trailer for their Spring 2026 film “Hoppers” about a girl named Mabel who puts her consciousness into a beaver body like “Avatar.” She even says it’s like “Avatar” in the trailer.
While it’s a cute premise, I have a strong feeling this film is headed for the same box office fate as “Elio.” At least going by this teaser.
The film is being written and directed by Daniel Chong, who you might know as the creator of “We Bare Bears.” That show did okay here but it was huge in countries like South Korea.
According to Wikipedia, the film’s premise reads,
“After a group of scientists invent a way for human brains to inhabit mechanical bodies, Mabel Tanaka uses their technology to embody a realistic robotic beaver and thwart a construction company’s plot to destroy the local animal habitat.”
I’m hoping that when we see more about the construction company, it might get more interesting than what this teaser shows. I think if that part of the story is better it has a chance, but just this isn’t enough.
The film releases on March 6, 2025.
