Happy Thanksgiving! I know the first thing that popped into your head: where can I watch the 2023 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade? Don’t worry; I’ve got you covered.
This year’s event will be live on NBC. However, if you’re like me and haven’t watched regular TV in years, you can stream the annual event on Peacock!
NBC’s telecast of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will kick off at 8:30 AM ET. From what the outlet says, this is a half-hour earlier than usual, because the parade has increased in size. How much so? Well, here’s the rundown:
- Twenty-five balloons that will include Grogu, Bluey, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Pikachu, and a Minion.
- Six balloonicles (bikes with old-school balloons attached)
- Thirty-one floats with Snoopy, Disney’s Wish cruise ship, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!
- 11 marching bands from across the country
- 18 performers, including Chicago, Brandy (yes, really!), En Vogue (yes, really!), and Jon Batiste
- Twenty-nine different groups of clowns, each with a different theme.
- Seven performance groups, including Big Apple Circus, Cornell Bhangra, Spirit of America, and the Tap Dancing Christmas Trees
From the looks of it, some of the floats and balloons also appeared last year. Perhaps Macy’s site is using old photos as placeholders? Possibly. The Bluey one looks the same, for sure, as does Grogu.
Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will start on West 77th Stree and Central Park West at 8:30 AM ET. It ends at Macy’s Herald Square. Those in New York at the time can get a glimpse behind the scenes at the balloon staging area outside of the Museum of Natural History.

Macy’s isn’t the only parade going on. The Chicago Thanksgiving Parade will start at 8 AM Central Time and feature some Disney properties!
The Muppets will be Disney’s offerings this year to the Chicago event. Included will be Animal, Kermit the Frog, and Cookie Monster.
This parade can be streamed on Pluto TV and CW 26.
