Here’s The Line ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Couldn’t Cross

Everyone is waiting in anticipation to see if Disney tinkers with Deadpool & Wolverine. We know now that the director of the upcoming superhero film had to make a few changes to appease the studio.

In the June 20th issue of Total Film magazine, the sequel’s director, Shawn Levy, admits that Disney indeed put a line in the sand. Deadpool & Wolverine, while trying to stick with the formula that made Wade Wilson’s first two movies work, needed to make a few concessions.

What was the line in the sand? Drug references. Pegging is OK. Extreme violence? No problem. But jokes about coke, even mentioning it via slang? That’s a no-go, according to the Mouse.

Yes, that line at the end of the trailer we saw last month is true to life. The exchange between Wade and Blind Al allows Levy to compress all elicit substance references into one entertaining moment.

Deadpool & Wolverine, the long-awaited sequel/crossover event, will shoot into theatres on July 26. Ryan Reynolds returns as the Merc with a Mouth, and Hugh Jackman finally suits up in the classic yellow and blue suit as a more comic book-accurate Wolverine.

Rumors are still circulating about who or what will make cameo appearances in this mashup of the Fox X-Men universe and Disney’s MCU. We recently discovered that Taylor Swift won’t be appearing as Dazzler, but some stories still claim Vinnie Jones will be in the movie as Juggernaut. However, as we covered a few months back, the actor has denied donning the muscle suit again.

While it’s not surprising that Jones didn’t want to get suited up again, we were stunned to hear that Famke Janssen would not make another Jean Grey cameo. Her role in Logan’s arc has carried on through several films.
