Like nearly all of Zynga‘s mobile games, Star Wars Hunters relies on players putting down either a lot of grind or a lot of cash to unlock all of the season’s offerings. How much would it cost to unlock all of the skins, characters, stickers, and challenges? Let’s break it down.
While the game does offer daily rewards, the primary free currency (credits) cannot be used to buy every item in the store. Yes, it’s like every other freemium game out there where you have to contend with two or three different types of currencies.
Credits appear to only be the currency of choice on very few cosmetics at the moment. Even then, it would take you 4,250 credits to buy one Cerulean Warrior skin. After playing for about a week, I had more than enough, but it was the only item in the shop that took that form of payment.
Credits cannot be used to buy crystals, the main premium currency of Star Wars Hunters, behind real money, of course. Yes, there are three types of payments accepted in this game. The Arena Pass and Starter Packs will cost you good old-fashioned cash.
When it comes to minor unlockables, those with a favorite character may be able to spare their wallets from pilfering. The Utooni starter, which grants you 400 crystals, 10k Arena Pass XP, a weapon skin, and a Utooni skin, will set you back $1.99.
As for the Arena Pass, it comes in two tiers: regular and VIP. The $9.99 base pass gives you Aran Tal, the Mandalorian character, 400 crystals, and 60 cosmetics. Some additional challenges are also thrown in, which, when completed, grant XP and currency.
The $19.99 VIP pass grants you all the same unlocks but also jumps your unlock path by 14 tiers. This season contains 80 tiers.
Unlocking nearly all the tiers would cost you $99.99 for the 9,000+ crystals you’d need. You’d get everything from character skins, weapon skins, credits, and more crystals.
You could grind this out; however, without the Arena Pass, several unlockables are, well … locked. You may have reached level 80, but you’re not getting the premium gear if you didn’t pay $9.99 or $19.99.
Even if you dropped $99.99, this would not unlock all the Hunters. You would still need to unlock them via gameplay or drop between 875-1,000 crystals each. As we mentioned before, this equates to around $9.99 per hunter. There are 11 hunters outside Imara Vex (your starter character) and the premium unlockable character Aran Tal.
So, to unlock all premium and regular characters and all Arena Pass tiers, you would need to spend $229.87. Oof. If this game were a bit more challenging and released on more platforms (Steam, XBOX, PS5), it may be worth it.
Currently, Star Wars Hunters is such a basic, easy, and bare game that I couldn’t recommend anyone pay this amount of money. There’s not even a well-known hero or villain in the mix yet!
