Gina Carano Questions Her Treatment Again After Comments By Jack Black’s Band Mate

Gina Carano has been fighting and is now suing Disney over her dismissal from “Star Wars” and the damage to her reputation. Her issues started when she politely refused to put pronouns in her bio on Twitter, and she was fired after posting about how people were manipulated into hating Jewish people during the Holocaust.

This is the comment that got her labeled as “abhorrent” by Lucasfilm and Disney:

Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors… even by children… Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?

Since her firing, she has pointed out that other actors at Disney and Lucasfilm have also been allowed to post politically charged comments and references to the Holocaust and now the attempted assassination of Donald Trump. They were not fired or made to undergo “education training” as she was.

Now, Jack Black’s “Tenacious D” bandmate, Kyle Gass, commented on the assassination attempt during a concert in Australia, saying, “Don’t miss Trump next time.” Jack Black did not say it himself but didn’t correct Gass either.  Now they have canceled their tour and Gass has been dropped by his agent due to the backlash.

I want to make it clear that Black himself did not make the comment. He has since issued this statement,

I was blindsided by what was said at the show on Sunday. I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form.” “After much reflection, I no longer feel it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour, and all future creative plans are on hold. I am grateful to the fans for their support and understanding.”

Gina Carano responded as Jack Black was in the last season of “The Mandalorian.” Disney or Lucasfilm issued no statement on the situation and they did not publically refer to Black or Gass as “abhorrent.”

Her point is that Black did not correct the “abhorrent rhetoric” on stage.

Carano claims this seemingly points out a double standard at Disney and Lucasfilm. It feels like people are being discriminated against based on political leanings or gender. Carano has more conservative viewpoints and is a woman. She was fired and forced to undergo meetings and “training” while these men were not.

Here are examples of other actors who did similar things and received no punishment whatsoever. They are also all male.

Mark Ruffalo, who plays Bruce Banner / The Incredible Hulk in the MCU posted this on July 1, 2024.  He was not fired.

Pedro Pascal had made these comments previously.

(Pedro Pascal posted this post to his Instagram account, which some took as him comparing Trump supporters to Confederates and Nazi’s. The post has since been deleted.)

He was not only left alone at Lucasfilm but will also not play Reed Richards in the MCU’s Fantastic Four film.

Mark Hamill constantly tweets about politics, and he did so while he was still playing Luke Skywalker. Since there are too many posts, you can see his X account here.

The issue isn’t that these men have personal opinions and political biases. They are allowed to have those. The problem is that Gina Carano was not given the same treatment as these men. That is the crux of her lawsuit—the double standard.

I think she has proven that there is one. Both politically and by gender.
