Gemma Chan Comments On Her Future In The MCU

Marvel’s The Eternals is considered one of the worst preforming films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, both from a critical and financial standpoint. It is currently the lowest rated MCU film to date and is considered a financial disappointment. The film made $400 Million on a $200 Million budget, though it’s budget may be larger due to reshoots and marketing. The film was considered a mess due to its bloated and unfocused story with more than 10 main characters that people had trouble relating to.

Recently in an interview with W Magazine English born actress Gemma Chan, who played the lead role of Sersi in the film, commented on her desire to return to the role.

Here’s what she said when asked about the possibility of her returning:

“Yes. Marvel owns me for life (Laugh)”

In the film Sersi and the remaining Eternals stop a celestial from being born and save the world from destruction, despite the director’s original desire to end the film on a sad note with the world ending anyway with complete disregard for all previous and ongoing Marvel productions. The film does hint at a continuation for the characters at the end, with one half of the group being taken by the celestials, another meeting up with Starfox in space and even a hint at Black Knight. But are we so sure that Eternals will be the next major franchise after The Avengers?

With the MCU’s future in question it is uncertain if any of these characters will return due to its poor reception. With Disney CEO Bob Chapek having more direct involvement with productions due to mandatory monthly meetings with head creatives perhaps the current direction will be altered to fit something more to his liking.

What do you say? Do you want to see more adventures with the space traveling guardians or should they end it after just one film?
