Fortnite Coco collab is live: Dante joins as a sidekick

Disney and Pixar’s Coco is officially in Fortnite. Dante the Xolo dog arrived Sunday as a sidekick, along with a marigold emote and a guitar you can swing, play or wear.

The leak was right. Dante, the goofy Xolo dog from Disney and Pixar’s Coco, is now in Fortnite.

“The bestest boy from the Land of the Dead, Dante, has arrived in Fortnite!” the official Fortnite account posted on X on Sunday morning. By midday, the post had nearly 3,000 likes and about 100 replies.

The drop lands right on Dia de los Muertos, Nov. 1 and 2, the holiday Coco is built around. PNP reported on the leak Oct. 31, when the details were still unconfirmed.

Here’s a first look at Dante in a match from Fortnite creator VALtheVAL:

What Coco items are in Fortnite?

Epic’s Latin American press release lists four pieces:

  • Dante sidekick: the loyal, goofy dog himself, who tags along with you in matches.

  • Alebrije transformation: a version of Dante inspired by Mexico’s colorful alebrije spirit animals, like the glowing form he takes in the movie.

  • Marigold emote: a swirl of cempasuchil petals inspired by the movie’s Marigold Bridge.

  • Alebrije guitar: the movie’s famous guitar, which works as a pickaxe, a back bling and a playable instrument.

The release went live Sunday morning, according to Epic’s Latin American press release.

How much is Dante in Fortnite?

Epic hasn’t listed a price in the materials we could find, and TierraGamer said the same. Sidekicks have usually run 1,200 or 1,500 V-Bucks, but that’s the usual range. Dante’s actual price hasn’t been confirmed.

Some YouTube creators are claiming you can get Dante for free. We haven’t seen Epic say that, so check the Item Shop in the game before you count on it.

Fortnite’s own website does list Dante under its sidekicks section, which confirms what he is, at least.

What is a sidekick in Fortnite?

Sidekicks are cosmetic companions that follow your character around during a match. They don’t give you any advantage, and enemies can’t see them, according to esports.gg.

You set up a sidekick’s look once, and it stays that way, though you can rename it. Epic revealed sidekicks on Oct. 30, 2025, and the first one, Peels, arrived on Nov. 1, 2025.

So Dante shows up almost exactly a year after the feature launched. Good timing for a dog who spends the whole movie getting into trouble.

Is this the first Coco item in Fortnite?

It’s the first official Coco collab. Don’t confuse it with an older outfit also named “Dante” from Fortnite’s Day of the Dead themed Muertos set back in Chapter 1, Season 6. That one has nothing to do with the Pixar dog.

The leak came first from a Fortnite data-miner known as Feco, who posted a “FORTNITE X COCO” graphic showing Dante in both his regular and alebrije forms on Oct. 30, as WDWNT reported.

Why is Disney in Fortnite so much?

Disney has a big stake in it. Disney announced a $1.5 billion investment in Epic Games in February 2024, with plans for a Disney universe connected to Fortnite.

Since then, Disney characters from Marvel, Star Wars and Pixar have kept popping up in the game. Epic laid off about 1,000 people in March 2026 to cut costs, but it said it was still committed to its Disney partnership, according to WDWNT.

What is Coco about?

Coco is Pixar’s 2017 movie about Miguel, a boy who dreams of being a musician, and his trip into the Land of the Dead on Dia de los Muertos. Dante is the scruffy street dog who follows him the whole way. He’s a Xoloitzcuintle, or Xolo for short, a hairless dog breed from Mexico, and he never says a word in the movie.

The movie opened in U.S. theaters on Nov. 22, 2017. It won two Oscars, Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for “Remember Me,” and made about $800 million worldwide.

Disney and Pixar have also announced a Coco sequel, so this probably isn’t the last we’ll see of Dante. For this weekend, though, he’s a very good boy with a very nice guitar.
