Getting a table at The Edison at Disney Springs can be a chore. We lucked out at the Flavors of Florida event and scored an inside table to check out two specific drinks.
The Sunny Disposition is unlike any cocktail I’ve ever had. I’m not typically one that goes for something that has a long list of ingredients:
“St. Augustine Cane Vodka, Lillet blanc, blended family Florida orange liqueur, giffard fraise de bois, Florida navel oranges, Minneola tangelos, Plant City strawberries and Indian River grapefruit.“
The presentation is 10/10! The porthole serving glass is beautiful. There’s so much local citrus and strawberries in this thing!
But how does it taste? It’s f’ing delicious, man! The Sunny Disposition is sweet and could easily be mistaken for being alcohol-free.
The porthole gives you about four small glasses, which is plenty. While sweet, it is deceivingly strong. It still hit me hard, even with a semi-full stomach, because I had covered other Flavors of Florida offerings.

While planning to cover the Flavors of Florida, I read through The Edison’s drink list and saw something interesting. A high-roller drink called the Gilded Old Fashioned caught my eye.
When we arrived, I noticed this specific cocktail had vanished from the menu, but our waiter confirmed it was available. So, I decided to take the plunge and ordered a $125 drink that consisted of “Whistlepig 18 year, bourbon barrel aged Vermont maple syrup, and Bittercube trinity bitters.”
Is it smooth? Brother, it is the smoothest drink I’ve had in my 20+ years of being an overly picky drinker! There was not a single twinge in my throat or wince as I took that first sip. It was like butter!

Is the Gilded Old Fashioned worth the price? Yes. Would I recommend it to people who aren’t Old Fashioned drinkers? No.
