Flavors of Florida Review: Everglazed’s Strawberry Shortcake Donut

We were spent after savoring several select items from 2024’s Flavors of Florida event at Disney Springs. However, on our way to the parking garage, we saw that Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew also participated with a strawberry shortcake donut.

Everglazed is known for its wide selection of unique pastries. Ranging from $4.95 to $6.50, there’s usually something for everyone. Most of them look amazing!

Well, that was the case for everything but the strawberry shortcake donut. At first, I thought they had accidentally given me the wrong item. There were no strawberries to be seen.

Now, I have to preface this review. I’ve been spoiled by attending the Plant City Strawberry Festival for several years. When you put that particular red berry in something, I expect it to be fresh, flavorful, and unique.

As you can see in our pictures, there’s way more whipped cream than anything else. I had to open the donut to find the small spoonful of fruit.

I also noticed that the donut itself had zero give. It wasn’t light or fluffy; it was dense like it had been sitting for a while.

My concerns were verified as I used the fork to cut into it. The pastry was stale.

The same can be said of the whipped cream. It was very dry.

Everglazed claims that the strawberries are “fresh.” I’m not sure if I believe that. They tasted like they’d been in a container for a few days, very mushy. This wasn’t very pleasant, especially as Everglazed was the last stop before we left for the day.
