Evangeline Lilly is sharing a new health update months after she suffered a frightening fall that left her with visible injuries and a concussion.
In May 2025, the “Lost” and “Ant-Man” actress revealed that she fainted while at the beach in Hawaii and fell face-first into a boulder. Lilly posted photos of her bloodied face and explained that she has experienced fainting spells since childhood, describing them as episodes that tend to happen when her body becomes overwhelmed.
Her concussion led to a traumatic brain injury (TBI).
Now, Lilly says the incident has had longer-lasting effects. In a more recent update referenced in reporting this week, she stated she has “brain damage” related to the accident and concussion.
What Happened in May 2025
Lilly posted an Instagram post a couple days ago talking about her condition.
“Verdict’s in… I do have brain damage from my tbi. Comforting to know my cognitive decline isn’t just perimenopause, discomforting to know what an uphill battle it will be to try to reverse the deficiencies.”
In her post, Lilly said that she got the brain scans back
“The results came back from the scans, and almost every area in my brain is functioning at a decreased capacity. So I do have brain damage from this TBI and possibly other factors going on. But now my job is to get to the bottom of that with doctors and then embark on the hard work of fixing it, which I don’t look forward to because I feel like hard work is all I do…My cognitive decline since I smashed my face open has helped me to slow down and helped me to have a more restful finish to my 2025…”

Lilly has also stepped away from at least one public appearance due to health issues. In June 2025, she canceled a scheduled festival appearance, citing “health reasons,” according to coverage republished by AOL.
Lilly has not publicly shared detailed medical information beyond her statements and has not announced any new timeline for upcoming work tied specifically to this issue.
We wish her a speedy recovery!
