Dr Pepper Gummy Soda Bottles are showing up at Dollar Tree

Frankford Candy’s new gummies bring back a candy fans lost years ago, and early tasters say they’re softer than Haribo’s cola bottles.

Dr Pepper fans, check the candy aisle at Dollar Tree.

New Dr Pepper Gummy Soda Bottles from Frankford Candy are starting to show up in stores, candy spotter @candyhunting shared on Instagram on Oct. 17. The first sighting was at Dollar Tree, and they should be headed to more stores soon.

They look just like classic cola bottle gummies: little bottle-shaped candies in brown and white. The difference is the flavor. Bite in, and it’s Dr Pepper.

Have Dr Pepper gummy bottles been made before?

Yes. Years ago, Kenny’s Candy made a line of soda-flavored gummy bottles that included Dr Pepper, A&W Root Beer, Crush Orange and Crush Grape.

Those are long gone, so for a lot of fans this is a comeback. This time, Frankford Candy is making them. The Philadelphia candy company makes a lot of licensed treats, from character chocolates to gummies tied to big food brands.

Are the new Dr Pepper gummies any good?

Early reviews are strong. One commenter on @candyhunting’s post gave them a 9 out of 10, Sporked noted.

Another said they found the gummies at Dollar General and liked them better than Haribo’s cola gummies. They also said the Dr Pepper version is softer than Haribo’s.

That’s a big compliment. Cola bottle gummies only work when the soda flavor is strong, and Haribo’s are the ones most people measure against.

Where can you buy Dr Pepper Gummy Soda Bottles?

So far, the best places to look are:

  • Dollar Tree, where @candyhunting first spotted them

  • Dollar General, where at least one shopper found them

More stores should get them soon. Since they’re at dollar stores, the price is a big part of the appeal.

If you can’t find them yet, check the checkout candy displays and the seasonal aisle, too.

What other Dr Pepper treats are out right now?

Dr Pepper has turned into a candy and snack brand almost as much as a soda brand. There are Dr Pepper candy canes for the holidays, plus a steady stream of Dr Pepper-flavored sweets.

On the soda side, more creamy flavors are on the way. Dr Pepper Ice Cream Float soda is set to arrive in 2027, along with a 7UP Miami Vice flavor.

Dr Pepper has been on a roll in general, climbing to one of the top spots among American sodas in recent years.

Why are soda-flavored candies so popular?

Because they hit nostalgia hard. Dr Pepper lip balm and soda-flavored candy were childhood staples for a lot of today’s parents, and brands have figured out that fans will buy their favorite flavor in almost any form.

They’re also an easy impulse buy. At dollar store prices, a bag of Dr Pepper gummies is a cheap way to try something new, and a fun stocking stuffer idea with Christmas coming up.

If you’re a Dr Pepper person, these are worth grabbing while they’re new.

How much are Dr Pepper gummies at Dollar Tree?

Dollar Tree hasn’t posted a price online yet. The chain’s standard price is $1.25, though it now sells some items at higher price points, so check the tag in your store.

Either way, it’s a cheap way to try them.

Where did Dr Pepper come from?

Dr Pepper was created in Waco, Texas, in 1885, which makes it one of the oldest soft drinks in America. There’s even a Dr Pepper Museum in Waco.

The brand is famous for its “23 flavors” blend, and the exact recipe is still a secret. That mystery is part of why Dr Pepper candy works so well. It doesn’t taste like cola, root beer or cherry. It just tastes like Dr Pepper.
