Recently I told you about Don Muchow, the runner with Type-1 Diabetes that was running from Disneyland to Walt Disney World, to complete his Mouse2Mouse run. According to Click Orlando, he’s the first runner that did the cross country run as a Type 1 Diabetic.
He reached Walt Disney World today and Cast Members and guests were waiting for him.
This is so sweet I could cry!
I just love it when he arrives and all the Cast Members and guests are there. He grabs at his chest and says “Oh my God! I love you guys! This is the best surprise in the world.”
Dang it! I cried! I was so happy for him!
They brought him balloons, water, Mouse Ears and some gifts.
When he was asked why he chose to run from Disneyland to Walt Disney World he explained that it was his friend’s idea:
“I have a friend of mine, and when I was explaining the transcontinental run, and he’s a huge Disney fan, he said basically, ‘Well are you running from Disneyland to Walt Disney World? A little light bulb went on in my head and I said, ‘I don’t think anyone’s ever done that– let’s go look it up,’ and no one had. So to me it made it special, to kind of help fulfill a dream of his and it’s always been a dream of mine to run across the country.”
He’s still going to keep going. He started out at the Pacific Ocean and he wants to run to Melbourne, Florida to end at the Atlantic Ocean. This should be completed by April 7th. Then he will return to the Magic Kingdom for some much deserved time at the park.
Congratulations Mr. Muchow!
