Disney has announced that it’s new ‘Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser” hotel has officially been pushed back to opening in 2022. Frankly, I’m surprised they cancelled other things, like most of EPCOT, and are still pushing it through, so next year is better than nothing.
Basically, you get to Walt Disney World and board a “special space pod” to take you to the Halcyon Starcruiser. The pod (which is a bus) will be fitted with screens to look like viewports as you enter or exit the hotel. You will get to stay 2 nights (and the rumored prices are ridiculous.)

Right now at Disney’s Hollywood Studios they have a model of the Halcyon on display for May the 4th.

“When the Launch Pod’s airlock slides open, you’ll take your first step into a galaxy far, far away as Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser comes to life all around you. During your stay aboard this glamorous ship, you may interact with an eclectic group of characters both familiar and new, possibly including the starcruiser’s strong and charismatic captain, a plucky ship’s mechanic and a galactic superstar who can captivate an entire room with the crook of one jewel-encrusted purple Twi’lek finger.”
Glamorous ship = expensive and if the rumors are true, it will be very expensive. Basically they are treating this like a Disney Cruise where it’s all inclusive but pricey.
Crown of Corellia Dining Room

“This singing sensation will be a featured performer during one of your exquisite dining experiences inside the Crown of Corellia Dining Room… The enticing supper club’s name is an homage to Corellia, the planet known galaxy-wide for its shipyards that gave us not only the Halcyon starcruiser, but also the Millennium Falcon. The dining room is a bright and welcoming hall that will offer breakfast and lunch to passengers before transitioning each evening into a lavish multi-course menu of both otherworldly and familiar origins.”
Most of this “announcement” is stuff we already know, but we’ll keep you posted.
What irritates me a bit as a parks fan and lifelong ‘Star Wars’ fan is that Disney promised a lot of the amazing things coming to the hotel to the regular guests visiting Batuu. They said there would be character actors and interactions, more than one girl and characters walking around sometimes. That our actions would determine our “story” in the area. There would be blaster shots overhead and more.
Now for the write-up on the hotel it says:
“You’ll be plunged into a Star Wars story where your decisions and actions – or even the casual conversations you may have – determine how your personal journey unfolds.”
So basically what guests were told would happen at Galaxy’s Edge when they announced it and while they were building it, but now you have to pay a lot more for it. I get why they are doing it, but Disney is already way too expensive for many people. Once again, only those that pay the incredibly high price for a 2-night stay, will get to experience some of the exciting things they said would be available for everyone. But I digress.
