Disney / Pixar has received two Golden Globe nominations for animated films; both “Elio” and “Zootopia 2” have been nominated. “Zootopia 2” I get, but not “Elio.”
They are going against Netflix/Sony’s incredibly popular “KPop Demon Hunters” and “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle.” Other nominees are “Arco” and “Little Amélie or the Character of Rain”.
Other Nominations
“Zootopia 2” was also nominated for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement along with “KPop Demon Hunters.”
“KPop Demon Hunters” was also nominated for Best Original Song – Motion Picture for “Golden”.
“Zootopia 2” was just released less than two weeks ago and has been dominating the box office. It will likely go over $1 billion at the global box office this week!
“Elio” was a surprising choice for a nomination, and it feels like they are giving it one simply because it is Pixar. The film was cute, but it wasn’t groundbreaking or even commercially successful.
It is also interesting that they are going up against “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle.” This anime is also incredibly popular worldwide and a worthy contender for the title.
Which one do you think will win?
