The Mickey and Friends Super-Star sneakers from Golden Goose launched Oct. 13 for $790 a pair, and both adult versions already show as sold out online. Kids’ pairs are $315.
That didn’t take long. Disney and Italian luxury brand Golden Goose launched a Mickey and Friends collection on Tuesday, Oct. 13, and the headline sneaker is already gone from Golden Goose’s U.S. site.
By Wednesday evening, both the men’s and women’s Super-Star sneakers, priced at $790 a pair, showed as sold out on goldengoose.com.
The rest of the collection is still up, mostly marked “Limited.” It includes a $2,300 bomber jacket and a $150 set of pins.
The Disney Parks Blog called it a “first-of-its-kind” team-up between Mickey and Friends and the Italian brand. Golden Goose teased it earlier this month with a space-age video, Laughing Place reported.
What do the Disney Golden Goose sneakers look like?
They’re Golden Goose’s signature Super-Star, the scuffed-on-purpose sneaker the brand is known for, redone with a space theme. The shoe is ice-gray suede with the usual white star on the side.
According to the Disney Parks Blog, astronaut Mickey chases Pluto toward that star on one side, while Donald Duck floats among the stars on the other. Daisy Duck shows up in a space suit.
The small tab on the back gets swapped for a custom Mickey-shaped planet, complete with craters and rings.
The clothes follow the same moon-trip story. Pluto’s tail shows up on tees and hoodies, Donald plants a flag, and Minnie and Daisy go exploring the galaxy. Kids get a denim baseball cap with a Mickey silhouette, made to swap in for a pair of ears.
How much does the Disney Golden Goose collection cost?
A lot. Here’s what Golden Goose’s U.S. site listed on Wednesday:
-
Super-Star sneakers, men’s and women’s: $790 (sold out)
-
Young Super-Star: $375
-
Kids’ Super-Star: $315
-
Reversible bomber jacket: $2,300
-
Washed sweatshirt: $950
-
Washed polo shirt: $690
-
T-shirt: $395
-
Distressed baseball cap: $250, or $160 for the kids’ cap with ears
-
Set of three pins: $150
-
Laces: $95 to $330
-
Socks: $98 for adults (sold out) or $55 for kids
A kids’ sweatshirt runs $460 and is on preorder. The three pins are inspired by Mickey Mouse and his friends, and two of them also come attached to a $330 pair of blue laces.
Besides the adult sneakers, the adult socks and a $330 set of braided laces with a pin and a charm were also sold out on Wednesday. WDWInfo reported that some pieces sold out right after launch.
Where can you buy the Disney Golden Goose collection?
Online at goldengoose.com and in select Golden Goose stores around the world, according to the Disney Parks Blog. Disney hasn’t said anything about selling it in the parks or at Disney Store.
Golden Goose started in Italy in 2000. It’s best known for sneakers but also sells jackets, shirts and activewear, Laughing Place noted.
Before prices were posted, Laughing Place guessed the Disney sneakers would run more than $600 a pair. That turned out to be low by almost $200.
Can you customize the Disney Golden Goose sneakers?
At some stores, yes. Golden Goose is holding personalization events at 20 select stores worldwide, where Disney artists will customize pieces from the line, the Disney Parks Blog said. Sign-ups go through Golden Goose’s Disney collection page.
Pieces can also be personalized through Golden Goose’s Co-Creation service, the Disney Parks Blog said. The line comes with galaxy-print laces, vintage-style patches and collectible pins built for exactly that kind of tinkering.
How does $790 compare with a Disney World ticket?
It’s more than three days at the most expensive time of year. Disney World’s priciest one-day, one-park ticket is now $229, on peak holiday dates in late 2027, after the price increases we covered Oct. 6.
So one pair of these sneakers costs about the same as three and a half peak-day tickets. The kids’ pair, at $315, is closer to a day and a half.
If you missed the adult pair, the kids’ and young sizes were still listed as “Limited” on Golden Goose’s site Wednesday evening.
