Disneyland WARN Act Filings Give Us and Idea of The Non-Union Layoff Numbers

Disney has filed four separate filings with the state of California today indicating their intention to lay off Cast Members. At this point we know of 2,765 non-union workers that will be let go.

Most of the workers are in Anaheim and according to the OC Register the break down is as follows:

“2,050 employees of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, 129 who work for Disney Entertainment Productions, 95 at Disney Destinations and 74 at Walt Disney Travel Co.” There are also”… 411 layoffs at Walt Disney Imagineering in Glendale.”

This is just the tip of the iceberg because we don’t know the extent of other layoffs for the union and salaried positions. But the OC Register has listed some of the information that unions are providing, but there is still a lot that they don’t know yet. Unions still have to meet with Disney to find out exactly what’s going on.

Here’s what they know:

Workers United Local 50 expects 2,500 of its 7,850 Disneyland food and beverage workers to be laid off.

Unite Here Local 11 expects 950 of the nearly 3,000 Disneyland cast members it represents to be laid off — many of them hotel workers.”

Union member layoffs are expected to be starting on November 1.

At this time there’s likely more that isn’t known that what is known. The whole situation is really sad and I feel for the Cast Members who are on pins and needles trying to figure out what’s going on.
