Disneyland ‘Magic Key’ Sales Shut Down?!

Guests looking to pick up a Magic Key pass for Disneyland will not be happy! The California version of our Annual Passes is no longer being sold.

On the Magic Key’s page, a new blurb recently appeared announcing sales have been halted:

Please note that we have paused new sales of Magic Key passes. At this time, current Magic Key holders may have the opportunity during their renewal window (currently up to 30 days prior to the pass expiration date) to renew into a pass made available within the program. The quantity of passes and pass types available for renewal may be limited. Passes or a pass type may be unavailable from time to time or at any given time or available only for renewal.

Luckily, current Magic Key holders may renew, but newcomers are out of luck. It’s unclear when sales will resume, but this isn’t the first time the passes have vanished.

Demand could have triggered Disney to cut back. Remember, the company prefers full-paying customers over annual pass holders. There’s more money from general admission compared to bulk.

Controversy surrounding the Magic Key passes isn’t limited to demand. Not too long ago, Disney was sued for “predatory” practices involving reservations.

In other Disneyland news, Doctor Strange is getting booted from the park. The sorcerer’s Mysteries of the Mystic Arts show in the Avengers Campus at California Adventure may be coming to an end.

The Orange County Register reports that the final show will happen on June 22. It’s more or less a magic show with guest participation.

Disney has not made an official statement regarding the lack of show listings past June. However, Doctor Strange will still make appearances throughout the campus along with other heroes.
