Disneyland Guest Dies After Suffering Heart Attack on Haunted Mansion Ride

A tragic incident occurred at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, when a female guest in her 60s died after riding the park’s iconic Haunted Mansion attraction. The incident took place on October 6, 2025, according to Anaheim police and park officials.

Witnesses reported that the woman became unresponsive shortly after the ride ended. Disneyland staff and emergency responders performed CPR at the scene before paramedics transported her to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The Orange County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office is investigating the cause of death, which has not yet been officially confirmed. However, early reports indicate it was likely the result of a cardiac event.

The Haunted Mansion’s Legacy

The Haunted Mansion, one of Disneyland’s most enduring attractions, first opened in 1969. Known for its special effects and ghostly illusions, the ride draws millions of visitors annually. At the time of the incident, the attraction was operating under its seasonal Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay, themed around The Nightmare Before Christmas.

This marks one of the few fatal incidents reported at Disneyland in recent years. It comes just weeks after another high-profile theme park death — a guest at Universal Orlando’s Epic Universe died following injuries sustained on the Stardust Racers roller coaster, highlighting renewed scrutiny on theme park safety across the country.

Ride Safety and Ongoing Investigation

As of now, Disneyland has not indicated any malfunction or safety issue with the Haunted Mansion ride system. The attraction has since reopened to guests following a routine safety inspection. Officials have described the event as an isolated medical emergency.
