Disney has apparently put Disneyland employees on the chopping block. According to reports, about 100 Disneyland Resort employees will soon be let go from various departments, including some with salaried positions.
A Disney spokesperson told Deadline,
“With our business in a period of steady, sustained operation, we are recalibrating our organization to ensure we continue to deliver exceptional experiences for our guests, while positioning Disneyland Resort for the future. As part of this, we’ve made the difficult decision to eliminate a limited number of salaried positions. We are deeply grateful for the contributions of these cast members and are committed to supporting them with care, respect, and resources during this transition.”
This news comes after the end of fiscal year 2024-2025 and ahead of the Walt Disney Company’s earnings call on November 11, 2025.
Disney stock has also been in decline over Disney streaming price hikes, rumors of lower attendance, and the Jimmy Kimmel situation. Could Disney be laying people off to spin the bad news into a positive for investors?
California WARN requires 60 days’ notice for termination
The upside for Disneyland employees is that they will have some notice and time as the Cal-WARN Act requires 60 days’ notice of termination. This would mean those terminations would fully take place by the end of the year, which is also the end of the first quarter.
This news raises new questions, including:
Will cuts be coming to Walt Disney World next?
Will the cuts ever stop?
Why is Disney making these cuts?
