Disney is now coming under fire after images surfaced of an ad for “Dying for Sex” on the Disney+ with Hulu bundle home screen. This is the main screen if you have both Disney+ and Hulu which allows you to navigate to either app or to Star Wars and Marvel content specifically.
I do not believe it is being advertised on Junior Mode (parental-controlled) profiles.
The X account Libs of TikTok posted an image saying,
“Received from multiple sources. Disney is reportedly advertising a series called “Dying for Sex” on the front page of their streaming service. One source says their 6-year-old saw it and started asking about it.
I thought this application was supposed to be “family friendly.” What’s going on @DisneyPlus?”

Parents are upset that this pops up in front of their children. It didn’t show up only on Hulu, but instead on the landing page.
I can confirm that Disney is indeed putting the ad on their Hulu home page as I saw it parked on top last night, but that is a different audience. I would think they would keep this stuff off the page leading to Disney+ in case children see it.
User (and friend of the blog) La Reina Creole added that parents should use the parental controls.
It has parental controls—has for years and I’ve always implemented them.
If you think Disney = ‘family friendly’ where the heck have you been the past 10 years?!?

She is right. If you have small children or don’t want to see this kind of stuff yourself, use the parental controls. I don’t think parents expected the landing page to require censorship.
This has led other people to post their own screenshots.
My kids use Disney+ almost exclusively… This is outrageous pic.twitter.com/IQkD9Bsmel

To avoid this in the future you will need to make sure your child has their own profile.
Profiles are set to a person, and content is generated to their past views and preferences. A child’s profile will likely not show this type of advertisement.
Also set parental controls. Instructions for Disney+ can be found Here. Instructions for Hulu can also be found Here.
