Disney+ has announced they are doing a new National Treasure show for Disney+ as well as a third film in the National Treasure series that will be released theatrically.
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer is back and announcing more information on the series and the film.
What we know:
According to an interview Jerry Bruckheimer did with Collider it appears that the Disney+ show will feature a younger cast and the film, I think, would be the same cast from the original. The way it’s worded could be interpreted a couple of different ways. Here’s what he said:
“We’re certainly working on one [National Treasure] for streaming and we’re working on one for the big screen. Hopefully, they’ll both come together and we’ll bring you another National Treasure, but they’re both very active….The one for Disney+ is a much younger cast. It’s the same concept but a young cast. The one for theatrical would be the same cast.”
The film will be directed by National Treasure and National Treasure: Book of Secrets director Jon Turtletaub. The third film currently has Chris Bremner attached as the writer.
Right now it seems that the show is further ahead than the film according to Bruckheimer:
“The film version is being written right now. The television version is in process. We have a pilot script done and an outline of the future episodes.”
I’m just happy we are getting another film and a series. We will keep you posted if we receive more information.
