Disney fans, rejoice! Disney has finally revealed a replacement for the beloved Main Street Electrical Parade tonight: Disney Starlight.
From the Disney Parks Blog…
“Disney Starlight” will continue the nighttime spectacular legacy started by the “Main Street Electrical Parade” using the latest technology to tell new stories about the characters you love. All of this is brought to life by the magic of the Blue Fairy, in addition to beloved characters from Walt Disney Animation Studios films “Peter Pan,” “Encanto,” “Frozen,” and more.

Like most of the D23 announcements so far, Disney’s new Magic Kingdom electrical parade has no release date set.

The Main Street Electrical Parade is a dazzling staple of Disney theme park magic that has been lighting up the night since its debut at Disneyland in 1972. Conceived during a time when Walt Disney’s team was eager to add nighttime entertainment to the park, this parade became a groundbreaking spectacle with its synchronized music, twinkling lights, and whimsical floats. Originally, the parade featured 500,000 lights and a catchy electronic theme, “Baroque Hoedown,” which was composed by Jean-Jacques Perrey and Gershon Kingsley. It was a marriage of technology and storytelling that enchanted millions and set the bar for all future Disney nighttime parades.
Over the years, the Main Street Electrical Parade has traveled from coast to coast, even making appearances at Walt Disney World, Disneyland Paris, and Tokyo Disneyland. Despite being “retired” several times, this fan-favorite parade keeps returning to the parks, with its most recent resurrection in 2022 at Disneyland for its 50th anniversary. Whether you’re a Disney newbie or a seasoned park-goer, seeing those illuminated floats glide down Main Street is a nostalgic trip through Disney’s storied history, proving that some magic never fades.
