Disney Severance Packages Revealed- Some Could Get A Year’s Worth of Pay

The good news to come out of Disney’s firing of 1,000 people is the possible severance packages they can get. According to the Disney employee handbook, Disney could be giving some people up to a year’s worth of pay!

While I feel bad for those losing their jobs, some are going to get all that money and lots of time to look for other employment, possibly coming out ahead.

Here are the severance tiers according to the Disney employee handbook

Of course, the longer you have been with the company, the better the deal, and those in management and executive positions benefit the most.

The range goes from Non-Managers, less than 5 years at 4 weeks of pay, up to VP or higher with more than 5 years getting 18 weeks of pay, PLUS 2 weeks per year up to 52 weeks.

Those who have been with the company for more than 5 years are being given significant severance packages that give them more than enough to live on until they can secure another position. For employees below the VP level, who haven’t been there for five years, the deal is less great.

I do feel terrible for those who lost their jobs, but if this structure is true, that makes me feel a bit better.
