The Proud Family was an animated series which aired on the Disney Channel from 2001 – 2005. The series followed 14 year old Penny Proud and her family called “The Prouds” with her father Oscar, her mother Trudy, her little brother and sister BeBe & CeCe, her grandmother Sugar Mama and her dog Puff the Poodle. Basically an animated sitcom about an African American family living in suburbia, but it was a fun show with plenty of wacky humor and even had a crossover with Lilo & Stitch. The series ended in 2005 with The Proud Family Movie and since then the series has been somewhat forgotten, until now.
On the 20th Anniversary of the show’s premier it was celebrated with a featurette of the upcoming new series called The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder. The new show will take place a few years later will be premiering exclusively on Disney Plus in 2022.

Most of the original cast is set to reprise their roles in the series with a few notable guest stars such as Lizzo, Normani, Lil Nas X and Chance the Rapper will make appearances throughout the series.
The revival of this show is seen as Disney looking into their catalogue from the early 2000s as enough time has passed for potential revisits to these past franchises for either continuations or reboots. However things like the 2019 Live Action Kim Possible movie was seen as a failure so they may be cautious when possibly revisiting shows like American Dragon Jake Long or Recess.
Are you looking forward to this new reboot?
