Disney Releases Jamie Lee Curtis “Ad” For Freakier Friday That is Raising Eyebrows

Freakier Friday debuted in theaters on August 8, 2025. Sadly, it isn’t doing well at $86.2 million worldwide. Currently, it’s getting beaten by the horror film “Weapons.”

Now Disney has released a clip of Jamie Lee Curtis talking about the film and why families should see it.

The post seems like it was filmed while in production, as Ms. Curtis is wearing her outfit from the movie. Honestly, this isn’t the outfit I would have used for the “ad,” as it puts the focus on her attire and away from what she’s saying.

What does Jamie Lee Curtis say?

She talks about how the film is sweet and a great way to end the summer saying,

Hi, everybody. It’s Jamie Lee Curtis.
Come see Freakier Friday, the same level of nostalgia, and joy, and laughter, and happiness, and tears, and friendships, are being enjoyed again now 22 years later.
You’re going to join with a big group of people who are finding something really sweet at the end of the summer to remind them what it is to be alive.
I’m just really privileged that I get to take you on the ride, and so thank you!”

Disney just posted this spot on social media across various Disney accounts a day ago.

They are likely trying to gain attention for the film to squeeze what they can from the box office.  Freakier Friday hasn’t even hit $55 million domestically.

The budget for the film is estimated to be around $45 million, meaning it would need $90-$100 million to break even, which it hasn’t done.

How is the film?

Honestly, it’s a good movie that is very reminiscent of the first film. If you liked “Freaky Friday” from 2003, you will probably like this version as well.

I did a review of the film here.
