Disney Plus Drops a New Percy Jackson and The Olympians Trailer

Disney Plus is finally getting something interesting to stream! The rebooted Percy Jackson and The Olympians series will begin this December, and it already looks like it could be a lot of fun.

A new trailer dropped for the series this week, promising a lot of Greek gods, demigods, and monsters. Can the series live up to the books and the 2010 film? Check out the preview below!

“Percy Jackson & The Olympians tells the fantastical story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, who’s just coming to terms with his newfound supernatural powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. Now Percy must trek across America to find it and restore order to Olympus.“

The series is written by Rick Riordan (the book series’ author) and Jonathan E. Steinberg (Black Sails and Jericho). It stars Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, and Aryan Simhadri.

Percy Jackson and The Olympians will premiere on Disney Plus starting December 20th. That’s days before the second season of Marvel’s What If…? kicks off.

The series looks to ignore the 2010 film entirely, retelling the story and also recasting the leads. I’m not sure why the franchise didn’t take off after the first two movies were financial successes. The first one raked in more than double its budget.

While the series may not be as violent or epic as Clash of the Titans or the God of War games, I’m willing to give it a go. Hopefully, PJatO will set itself apart from all the other Greek myth content we’ve seen over the past decade.
