Disney recently shut the monorail system down after Monorail Silver reportedly suffered an electrical fire.
According to a report from @CHRIS_MAGIC_DCL on X, the monorail had smoke and a burning insulation smell.
I didn’t have seeing a monorail have a electrical fire on my bingo card while on my morning run this morning! There was quite a bit of smoke that smelled like burning electrical insulation coming out between the cars! By the time I went and got my phone they got it out. It was… pic.twitter.com/0YDY6kPQ7O

This is not the first time smoke has shut down the monorail.
Monorail Blue
Several years ago, a piece reportedly fell off of Monorail Blue, causing smoke and sparks, which shut it down till it could be towed back to the station.
When there is smoke, the electrical system is shut down. I know because I was on it when it happened.
Many other instances have happened over the years, with increasing frequency as the fleet ages.
Disney needs to replace the monorails.
For a company that continually raises prices but gives customers less, even possibly adopting a dynamic pricing model to scrape even more money, they aren’t replacing their monorails.
Those vehicles are long past due for replacement. The current monorail fleet has been in service since 1989.
Instead, they put up the Skyliner.
What happens now?
The monorail will likely be towed to the station for evacuation. Then it will be repaired and put right back into service.
If you were planning on using the monorail system this morning, watch for delays.
