Disney May Have To Do Special Holiday Events At the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser

Disney has been reportedly toying with the idea of doing holiday events like “Life Day” at the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser hotel. Disney Cruise Line offers special Halloween and Christmas events and since the new hotel is basically the perpetual “Star Wars Day at Sea” cruise ship now, it would stand to reason they might offer some holiday themed events.

Given the way booking are looking, they may have to.

The Halcyon (AKA Galactic Starcruiser) opened to a few months of solid bookings, but the price and the reviews kind of hindered the demand. It’s true that it’s been booked through June and into July for awhile now, however the demand seems to have been front loaded for this experience. As nationwide inflation grows the demand shrinks.

If you look at the current trend for bookings you can see that it has remained about the same, with bookings through July holding solid. However, August-December is a decidedly different story.

Let’s take a look:

Here is May-July, and you can see very little availability is left.

June has been mostly sold out for awhile now and July has gradually been disappearing.

Now compare this to August-December:

The two sold out dates in November have been listed as unavailable since the first day the dates were added. The rest is wide open.

One would think that these dates would start to sell out, especially around the holidays, but so far that isn’t the case. Perhaps people are waiting to see what Disney announced for Holiday Parties in the parks and will book the Starcruiser and the parks at once? Maybe people are waiting to see if they offer special events? Or maybe people just don’t think it’s worth the ridiculous price of $4,800-$6,000 (base rate.)

Disney is going to have to do something. Be it a special holiday event with special perks or even changing the trips to one night or “short excursions” to cut the costs significantly.

This doesn’t look good. Most people book far out so they have time to save money. At those prices it’s not something a lot of people can just spur of the moment decide to do. That’s a lot of money. Where I am from that’s 2 months of pay just for 45 hours.
