Disney Jr. stepped in it for International Donut Day on November 5, and the internet was quick to respond. It’s unclear if they did it deliberately or simply didn’t understand how it would look. I would assume (and hope) it was the latter, but they posted a meme thinking it was about donuts, but this format/meme is not about donuts.
What did they do?
There is an internet trend comparing donuts to anuses, sometimes using this format.
For International Donut Day, the official Disney Jr. account posted pictures of a donut beside various characters who would choose that donut.
Seems innocent enough. However, the internet immediately thought of the meme where you list characters or types of people who would have a butt hole like the donut.
Others pointed out that feeding a dog a chocolate donut would kill it.
To most of us, this meme seems harmless, but to those who know the donut meme trend, not so much. Thankfully, more people don’t know than d,o so it isn’t something many have caught on to.
The comments speak for themselves,
“… god I hope it’s just their favorite donut and nothing else 😂😂” – Americo S.
“Apparently, this means what kind of donut these characters would likely eat. If that’s the case, it does makes sense.” – Jae E.
“Mom, pick me up I’m scared.” -Khaos F.
– Harley M.
“Someone getting fired lmao” – Joe C.
“Someone cooked here.” -Sierra A.
“There’s an intern in a meeting right now.” – Allen H.
“disney what do you mean by this” – Jasmine M.
“Disney really know their audience lol” – Manda R.
“Haha wait disney themselves posted this?lmao” – Django K.
“I think they misunderstood the context of the meme 😂” -Jake N.
“This how kids shows sneak adult jokes in you don’t realize till 20 years later” – Dennis S.
Disney has not deleted it. Probably because doing so would seem like an admission to posting something inappropriate. But for most people it is simply about donuts. Still doesn’t change the fact that this meme is not about actual donuts.
What do you think? Comment and let us know!
